    Currently Loving Leather

    December 30th, 2011

Lately, I just can’t get enough leather. I find myself drawn to it in everything from bags, to dresses to pants.

There is something so sultry and yet sophisticated about the material. It compliments every ensemble that I try on.

    Do you love leather?

Comment below if you want to see how I’m incorporating it into my winter looks!

    Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Auction

    December 17th, 2011

Ms. Taylor is a glamazon after my own heart, so when I heard that her jewelry was going to be displayed here in NYC, I headed straight to Christie’s.

Well let me tell you the collection did NOT disappoint. Pearls, emeralds and rubies the size of gumballs filled the cases. I was in HEAVEN.

And yes and diamonds. There were LOTS of diamonds! I wish I had something to show you the scale of these pieces.

I noticed that Liz had quite a thing for tassels. Countless pieces of her jewelry had some sort of tassel element. I DIE for those earrings!!

Some fab gold tassels on a bracelet…

And here are some stunning emerald pieces. Those pink and green earrings in the top left were amongst my most favorite.

See what I mean? Those with a white jersey asymmetric maxi dress on the Island of Capri? Yes please!

The exhibit also included a fabulous collection of black and white photos of Liz across the span of her career.

Such a star. It really inspired me to further my current jewelry collection.

And so I’ll leave you with this:

    “Big girls need big diamonds.”

    Lately Loving….Leopard + Plaid

    December 15th, 2011

Some of you are going to think that I am a little off my rocker today, but I have to tell you that lately I have been loving plaid and leopard mixed together.

There is just something magical about wearing the two iconic prints together. The scale and palette is key when attempting this look. I recommend rich hues in both to keep you looking luxe not looney.

So what do you think? Would you try it?

    Accessories as Art

    November 22nd, 2011

I am a sucker for jewels. If it is sparkly and fabulous I have to have it. Now try as I may I am unable to wear all of my favorites at once so I have to settle on displaying them around my home.

In my opinion, gorgeous gems on black velvet busts and in beautiful trays is as good as art gets!

If you collection is overflowing like mine, try grouping objects by designer or color.

Store additional pieces in a chest that makes your whole collection feel like treasure!

I also adore displaying my jewelry mixed in with books. They are such an unexpected touch on a bookcase.

How do you display your jewels?

    Fashion + Food + Furniture

    November 5th, 2011

I have a hard time with pastels. They often seem to leave something missing, but when paired with hues such as bold gold they provide the perfect pallet for glamour. Whether on a cake, coat or chair – pretty pastels and gold reign supreme.

And you know that I couldn’t resist adding this stunning tablescape. Loving this for a girl’s baby shower!

    In a Monochromatic Mood

    October 29th, 2011

What is it about a monochromatic ensemble that just screams polished perfection?

It started with interiors but now I am completely mad about monochromatic dressing.

    So chic, no?

    Ravishing in Red

    October 22nd, 2011

My love of red comes and goes in phases. It’s bold, and a bit much so I have to be in the mood for it. But lately I just can’t get enough.

A love a strong red lip. It just oozes glamour.

I think red is amazing as a statement from head to toe, but I love it as an accent in a fab accessory.

And don’t even get me started on red nails. They are my uniform from September thru May!

How do you feel about red? Too much or just enough?

There is no combination more luxe than leopard and chocolate. The playful pattern paired with creamy chocolatey hues is delicious. Mix in colors such as raspberries and creams, that will look as good as they taste.

    Gorgeous Hues at Katie Ermilio

    September 14th, 2011

There is nothing like fashion week in NYC. The shows, the energy and all of the fabulous women that come to visit!

The whole thing has me running around a bit frantic, but I wanted to share with you just a few shots of what I found most inspiring.

The colors and the flirty/feminine silhouettes were perfection!

    Such sweet details….

Katie did an amazing job creating incredible backs to her pieces.

Unexpected touches like patent oxfords kept the collection fresh.

    What do you think?
