Gorgeous, Glamorous Punch
December 15th, 2010There are few beverages as festive and fun as punch. It is also the secret to being a happy hostess because you get to visit with your guests, instead of worrying about making and refilling drinks all evening. Punch has recently gotten a make-over. Gone are the days of mixing whatever you have in your refrigerator. Make this Sparkling Cider and Cranberry Orange Sherbet Punch and you’ll be a believer.
As silly as this may seem, punch has been a highly regarded beverage for centuries. It was often served at formal banquets and to royalty. The ingredients alone can be beautiful, however my favorite part is that there so many gorgeous crystal bowls and goblets that you can serve it in. I believe it has reclaimed it’s position as the glam beverage. This Horse and Carriage Punch is made with champagne, fresh citrus juices, St. Germain elderflower liqueur and freshly grated nutmeg, among other delicious things. And it is garnished with a giant ice-cube filled with frozen rosemary, cranberries and rose petals. Tell me this wouldn’t be the talk of your party!
This Cranberry, Tangerine and Pomegranate Punch is sure to be delicious and the chicest part of your holiday spread! It would be the perfect beverage to serve at a Mad Men themed party! Tip – Use one large ice cube instead of several small ones. It will last longer and avoid diluting your delicious concoction. Fill a Tupperware container the night before with water and some fresh berries or herbs. Edible flowers are a charming touch.
Lemon Drop Champagne Punch is effortless class in one big sparkling bowl. Garnish will candied lemon zest and mint. This is a lovely contrast against all of the super rich drinks and food of the season.
