The Story of a Sconce
September 22nd, 2011I have to tell you, lately I have been finding myself endlessly inspired by the fabulous New York women before me.
They lived with such style and swagger. From their homes to their hostessing skills these women knew how to be truly fabulous.
So I know that you are wondering what all of this has to do with a sconce. Well, last week as I was perusing my local flea market when I met the most incredible man. He was in his late 60′s and started by complimenting me on my style. We got to talking and he had the most incredibly interesting stories to tell about his life growing up in New York city (Ralph Lauren was his camp counselor!?!).
I spotted these amazing sconces and he began to tell me about how they had been sitting in storage since the 60′s because they were from his parent’s Park Avenue Penthouse in the 1940′s. Turns out his parents were these fabulous socialites who believed in the importance of style and he was thrilled that they would be going to someone with equally great taste (:blushing:).
So naturally, I am now completely obsessed with them and will be hunting him down again this Saturday to see what more treasures he has unearthed. Kind of getting addicted to this whole vintage shopping thing…
But I mean can you blame me? Aren’t they gorgeous?!
